A dog that nearly bit off an 88-year-old woman's finger was beaten and drowned by several residents in Barangay San Isidro, Magarao, Camarines Sur.

The woman, Feliciana Baldonasa, lost a nail after she was bitten by the dog.

Baldonasa said she was sitting on her bed when a black dog entered their house and bit her.

"Inatubang ako, basta sana man akong kinagat—sabi ko ngani, 'ta nangangagat ka dae taka man pig-ano?' Pag[haloy] nagdudurugo na [an muro ko],” she said.

Baldonasa was taken to the Animal Bite Center for treatment. She received a rabies vaccine as a precaution.

Due to fear among residents, several men intervened and beat the dog.

After the dog was subdued, the dog was brought to a nearby stream and drowned.

According to Danilo Gonzales, the barangay councilman, the dog that bit the victim may have come from another area. All dogs in their barangay were accounted for.

Residents who were involved in killing the dog were invited to the barangay to explain their actions.
