Motorcycles and other vehicles without license plates are no longer allowed to enter and travel within Samal Island.

The local government issued an executive order on June 25, 2024, which prohibits the entry and travel of cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles without license.

The “no plate, no travel” policy is being implemented after the local government observed that motorcycles without plates are entering the island city from Davao City.

“Vehicles without plate numbers might be used to perpetrate crimes such as those done by riding in tandem,” reads part of the order.

The order also said minors or those below 18 years old are not allowed to drive.

City Public Order and Safety Office (CPOSO) enforcers, barangay officials, and the police are ordered to implement the policy.

Violators will be penalized in accordance to the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and other existing laws and ordinances.
