Six houses were damaged and landslides were reported following heavy rains in Barangay Masiag, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.

According to the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC), at least 15 families were affected by the flooding.

“As of now nasa 15 na pamilya na tayo ang apektado, animyung naka bakwit na, nilisan na nila yung kanilang mga bahay,”BDRRMC Chairman, Hernani Salve Jr., said.

The areas affected in the barangay include Kawayan, Kalasagan, and Haniway.  The roads in these areas were impassable to heavy vehicles as the culvert was reportedly damaged.

BDRRMC has raised the concern to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)-12.

The flooding brought by heavy rains was caused by the low pressure area (LPA) and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) that affects most parts of Mindanao on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the LPA and ITCZ have already dissipated, but localized thunderstorms and the easterlies will continue to affect most parts of the country, including Mindanao.

Based on data from Metra Weather, Sulu, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and other parts of Mindanao will continue to experience rains that may result to flooding and landslide.
