Residents of Barangay Poblacion, Lingayen, Pangasinan were shocked to find a dead newborn inside a plastic bag in the middle of the road.
According to the police, a resident walking along the road noticed the plastic bag, which was also being approached by a dog due to its smell.
Upon inspection, they found the dead body of a baby boy inside the bag.
The police have launched an investigation to identify who abandoned the child on the street.
"Ini-imbestigahan natin kung may CCTV (closed circuit television), o pwede nating makuhang impormasyon sa pamamagitan ng pag-review sa area at other witnesses," PLTCOL. Vicente Castor, Jr., Chief of Lingayen Police Station, said.
The infant has been buried.
