Residents of Daraga, Albay helped catch a man who snatched a wallet away from a student.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the man running across the street as he was being chased by several individuals and personnel from the Public Safety Office (PSO).

The suspect allegedly followed a student to an area without CCTV and took the wallet, which contained over P5,000.

The victim called for help, prompting residents in the area to run after the suspect.

"Habulan kami papuntang munisipyo. Nagtawag ako sa radio, yung naka-base man dito, saka inabangan na rin nila," Jimmy Lotivio from PSO Daraga, said.

Dioscoro Romasanta, a parking assistant, also assisted in the arrest.

"Nung nailing ko na, dinakop ko nalang bigla, di ko man naano kung may patalim o anuman basta siya dinakop ko," Romasanta said.

The police responded immediately and took the suspect into custody.

Police said the suspect is from Barangay Concepcion Pequena, Naga City, Camarines Sur.

"So ngunian, nagpaparking attendant ini sa Legazpi kaya siguro medyo burnout na siya sa Naga or sa Legazpi, pigtry niya digdi sa Daraga, nagkataon na minalas siya," PMSG. Marian Jess Rico, spokesperson for Daraga Municipal Police Station (MPS), said.
