A woman and a policeman were injured during a hostage-taking incident in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro.

Police said the suspect identified only as alias “John” allegedly barged into the house of the victim and pointed a pair of scissors at the woman.

Col. Evan Viñas, said.

In a video captured by a netizen, the suspect can be seen with his arm around the woman, seemingly prickling her with the scissors repeatedly.

During negotiation, the suspect demanded for a vehicle that would take him to Baroy, Lanao del Norte.

Police were able to convince the suspect to board a patrol car while still holding the victim.

The suspect reportedly started to calm down, but he became furious when he noticed more policemen have surrounded the patrol car. He threatened to hurt the woman more.

A few moments later, authorities cornered the suspect and rescued the woman who sustained wounds in different parts of her body. A policeman was also wounded during the commotion.

Authorities said the suspect reportedly reached Cagayan de Oro on foot from Baroy, Lanao del Norte. Authorities did not allow the suspect to be interviewed, as of this writing, as he was reportedly restless.

The suspect will face frustrated murder charges. He will also be made to undergo psychiatric examination. He was observed hurting himself inside the detention facility.

Police reminded the public to ensure their gates or doors are closed to avoid intruders.
