A driver and his helper died after they were pinned by sheet piles inside the cab of the truck they were riding in Davao City.

The incident happened near the Davao International Airport on C.P. Garcia Highway when the driver reportedly stepped on the brakes suddenly when an airport security assistant allegedly ignored the traffic light and crossed the street even when the light had gone green.

As the truck was forced to stop, around 50 pieces of 12mm sheet piles it was carrying were pushed forward, pinning the driver and his helper inside the cab.

The driver, 56, and his helper, 24, were residents of Davao del Sur.

Responders who retrieved the two men from the cab tried to revive them but failed.
