Mayor Jess Camara of Libmanan, Camarines Sur, calls on the public to disregard a fraudulent document circulating on social media, allegedly bearing his signature.

A document spread on social media, purportedly signed by Camara, and was used in a scam to solicit aid for an inmate at the Bureau of Corrections.

Camara has denied the authenticity of the document. He said he did not authorize the use of his signature for any solicitation.

"Dae ko akalaon po na after three years, the same person nag-iikot pa po gamit pa giraray itong letter na ito na pirmado ko po. Ang opisina po nag initiate, through social media, na ma-inform ang publiko na bako na po itong genuine pirma ko," Camara said.

The document includes the names of individuals allegedly providing aid to the mentioned person.

Camara urged the public to report the document to authorities instead of believing it.

"So pinapangapodan ang mga tawo po na nadulukan kaini na makipag-coordinate po sato, tangarig dae naman mabiktima si iba po," he said.

The local government unit (LGU) plans to file legal action against the person behind the scam.

"Well I informed already the PNP (Philippine National Police) na dakupon ninda ito, [tapos] kwestyunon kung ano, ta naglilibot sinda, nagso-solicit," Camara said.
