Vice President Sara Duterte said on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, that her father and her two brothers are reportedly willing to run for senator in the 2025 midterm elections.

“Lahat sila willing na tumakbo. Si PRRD senator… yung kuya ko, yung congressman ngayon si Paolo Duterte, senator… si Sebastian Duterte…” Sara said during a visit to Cagayan de Oro for the 2024 OVP Pride Reception in celebration of Pride Month.

President Rodrigo Duterte held office from 2016 to 2022. Paolo Duterte is representative to Congress of Davao City’s First District while Sebastian “Baste” Duterte is current mayor of Davao City.

Sara said they are also looking at the possibility of Mayor Duterte to run for President in the 2028 presidential elections.

“Ang ingon sa akong mama nga akong manghod kuno ang mudagan og president,” she said.

Sara also said that she, herself, is considering running for mayor of Davao City again.

Sara has just quit the cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. as secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).

She said she is focusing on an orderly transition to the leadership in DepEd.

“Ngayon ay malaman kung sino ang bagong Secretary ng Department of Education at ma-iturn over natin at magkaroon ng maayos na transition from the old secretary,” Sara said.
