A man was shot dead while in a moving taxi in Barangay 19-B, Davao City on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

The driver said it was only after shots were fired and he saw his passenger hit that he noticed the gunman walking away and boarding a motorcycle.

He reportedly heard two gunshots.

He then jumped out of the taxi for fear of his life.

“Pagbuto, nakit-an na nako ang gunman, nagbaktas na. Unya paglakaw, nagsakay na og motor. Mao to niambak nako kay kuyawan naman ko, mao ng niatras ning sakyanan,” the taxi driver said.

The victim boarded the taxi in front of the Hall of Justice and was suppose to go to a subdivision in Barangay Buhangin.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on the right side of his neck.

Police said the taxi driver also sustained minor injuries when he jumped out.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the motive and to arrest the assailant.

“Ato siyang ilhon sa iyang identity then atoang subayon kung unsa ang motibo ani,” San Pedro Police Station Chief, Major Michael Uyanguren, said.
