A 53-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son died after they were hit by a truck while walking on the side of the road in Barangay Manga, Matanao, Davao Del Sur.
Police said an elf truck, which ran out of control when the driver allegedly dozed off behind the wheel, hit the victims and rammed into the railing.
The woman, Flordelina Mariamor, died on the spot while her son, Prince Xavier, did not reach the hospital alive.
The police, however, released the truck driver from custody after the two parties reached an agreement.
