Police have arrested an alleged former leader of a group that allegedly harassed a school in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur last December 3, 2020.

Authorities arrested “Commander Bayawak” by virtue of a warrant for multiple attempted murder, destructive arson, and alleged violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act, all issued by a court in Cotabato City last October 4, 2021.

The operating troops seized from the suspect a caliber .45 pistol and ammunition.

“Commander Bayawak” was said to be the former vice chairman of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF)-Bungos Faction that operated in the town.

According to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), the suspect and his group were responsible in the December 3, 2020 harassment incident at the Notre Dame School in Barangay Poblacion.

"This accomplishment is a proof of PNP's aggressive stance against wanted criminals. With this, I also encourage the public to support this campaign as we do our part in maintaining peace and order in our region,” PRO-BAR Director, Brigadier General Prexy Tanggawohn, said.
