At least 11 high-powered guns were surrendered following a rido settlement between two warring clans in Isabela City, Basilan.
These firearms include M16 rifles, M203 grenade launcher, among others.
The surrender of firearms was made after the warring families came up with a peace settlement.
According to the military, the conflict between the two clans sparked when one was killed on May 2, 2024. The incident further fueled hostilities and violence when a family attacked the other on May 4, which resulted in the wounding of seven people and another civilian.
The peace agreement was facilitated by the 101st Infantry Brigade and attended by 15 representatives of each clan.
The military lauded the move of the families to reach a settlement to maintain the peace and order in the province.
