The Province of Bohol will have an additional source of power supply once the Dagohoy Solar Power Project (DSPP) becomes operational.

The project is set to collect energy from the sun through solar panels and convert the energy to electric power.

Mounting of solar panel arrays started on May 9, 2024 in Barangay Dagohoy, in the Municipality of Dagohoy which is about 65 kilometers away from Tagbilaran City.

The panels are expected to be serviceable by the last quarter of 2024.  Funds allocated for the DSSP reached P1.2 billion.

Stored energy is estimated to supply at least 27 megawatts and power around 15,000 households in the province.

This is the first solar power project in the province, an initial initiative to harness renewable, alternative sources of energy.

Governor Aris Aumentado said that the project will help the province's growing demand for electric power, and eventually depend less from supply coming from Leyte and Cebu.

“Nalipay ko kay dako og tabang sa lalawigan sa Bohol. Kay we can't invite investors without power. With this development, dako ning tabang sa lalawigan sa Bohol,” Aumentado said.
