A 54-year-old man lost his life following a collision involving three vehicles in Barangay Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
The victim’s car first collided with an oncoming sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Dashcam footage captured the moment the victim’s car veered off course, and CCTV footage also recorded the impact.
Another SUV behind the victim was also caught up in the accident, resulting in a tangled mess of vehicles.
The drivers, who sustained serious injuries, were taken to the hospital, but the 54-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries.
It was found later that both drivers of the SUVs tested positive for alcohol during a breath test and were issued tickets for driving under the influence.
According to PLTCOL. Adrian Gayuchan, chief of the Batac City Police Station, the parties involved will discuss the incident.
The families of the deceased and the drivers involved have decided to meet and discuss the incident.
Gayuchan advised motorists to be careful.
“Itong Barangay Magnuang at Tabug is [an] accident prone area kasi ‘yan. So request lang naman natin sa DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) na magdagdag ng additional signage, pero sabi nila [ng DPWH] is okay naman na ‘yung mga signages, so tayong mga motorista talaga dapat mag-ingat dun,” he said.
