An alleged fixer for government transactions was arrested at a mall in Baguio City in an entrapment operation carried out by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cordillera.
The suspect, a resident of Makati City, was caught with the boodle money used in the operation.
According to a victim, the suspect pocketed over P3 million to facilitate the removal of their company from the blacklist of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The victim was given an acknowledgment receipt supposedly signed by high-ranking commissioners, purportedly confirming receipt of payment to favor their request.
However, the NBI investigation revealed that the suspect forged the signatures of the commissioners.
Two accomplices of the suspect were also arrested in the operation.
The suspects declined to provide statements. They are facing charges.
