Over 144,000 passengers traveled through the Batangas Port from March 24 to 31, 2024 during the observance of the Holy Week.
Most of the passengers were from the provinces of Mindoro and Romblon, as well as parts of the Visayas.
According to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), a total of 88,508 passengers embarked, while 56,264 disembarked at the Batangas Port from March 24 to March 31.
"As far as embarking normal na tayo, kasi talagang kapag Lunes medyo talagang mahina ang ating pasahero 'yan ang pinakamababang number ng pasahero, 'yung disembark hindi pa siya normal, marami pang bumabalik," Joselito Sinocruz, the Port Manager of PPA-PMO Batangas, said.
Bus line supervisors at the port also anticipate an influx of travelers arriving via ships in the coming days.
"Abutin nito 8,000 [na pasahero], marami pa kasing darating na barko eh. Marami pang pasahero," Eduardo Juanillo III, a bus line supervisor, said.
Heightened alert status remains in place at the port.
