A peaceful and orderly Holy Week in Cebu City has been observed based on the initial assessment of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) from Holy Thursday to Black Saturday.
In a phone interview with Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operations of the CCPO, she disclosed that they have not encountered any situation especially in places normally crowded such as bus terminals, seaports, churches and other venues of Holy Week-related activities.
More passengers were observed to have traveled instead on Black Saturday to avoid the rush and congestion at bus and pier terminals beginning Holy Wednesday in Cebu City.
Some tourists were noticed in Pier 1 to have rushed to their next destination such as a Swiss couple from Bohol headed for the island of Siargao in the Province of Surigao del Norte.
Meanwhile, only a handful of passengers bound for southern Cebu towns was observed at the Cebu South Bus Terminal on Black Saturday.
A help desk manned by personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 7 continues to serve passengers, as of posting time.
Though the help desk has not responded to a major situation, FO2 Ernido Baya, Jr. of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) - BFP 7 in Cebu City, has again reminded passengers to be cautious of the hot weather, to always keep hydrated, and to make sure maintenance medicines are brought along in the trip.
