As the Holy Week exodus kicks off, passengers flock to bus terminals in Dagupan City, hoping to make it home to their provinces.

Starting Holy Wednesday, bus companies have extended their last trip schedules to accommodate the surge of travelers.

As of 10 a.m, the scene at several bus terminals in Dagupan City had long queues of passengers bound for Zambales.

Rosalinda Ranoco, a passenger traveling from Baguio City, decided to start her journey early but was still greeted with a long line.

"Medyo mahaba na ang pila, mahirap na sumakay," Ranoco said.

Meanwhile, travelers heading to Manila like Renato Pascual and his grandchildren endured a wait of over two hours for their bus.

"Pahirapan, marami na pasahero," Pascual said.

To cope with the influx of passengers, bus companies have suspended the 30-minute interval between trips and extended their last trip schedules to Baguio City and Zambales.

Terminal masters assure the public there are enough buses to accommodate travelers during the Holy Week.

"May mga ginawa kaming paraan para ma-accommodate lahat ng pasahero. May mga unit kami na iba ang ruta, pero since may special permit makaka-byahe sila," Giovanni Caras, a terminal master, said.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) reminds motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before hitting the road during Holy Week.

They also advise against driving under the influence of alcohol or when sleep-deprived. Overloading is also discouraged to prevent accidents.
