A 64-year-old man shot to death his 28-year-old son in Sitio Lower Laguerta, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City at around 10 p.m. on March 25, 2024.

According to a report of the Mabolo Police Station, the son and the mother had an argument. The father admonished his son but the latter got irate reportedly. 

His angry son allegedly hit him on the neck with a piece of wood.

He got his gun supposedly to fire a warning shot but his son was hit in the head.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced there dead-on-arrival. 

In an interview with the mother, she said that the argument started when she asked her son to put off the light as they were about to go to sleep. She said her son reacted badly which got the attention of the father. 

The mother added that her son has been misbehaving since he started using illegal drugs.

The father refused an interview but the mother said her husband might still be bearing the pain of his swollen neck. She also said she would not pursue filing charges against her husband. 

Further, a sibling of the 28-year-old victim said it pains him to see his father taken into police custody. He also confirmed that it was his brother who provoked their father.
