At least 15 alleged members of a local terrorist group have laid down their arms and surrendered to the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.
According to the military, the surrender was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the local officials and the military.
The former terrorists also turned over their firearms, including an 81mm mortar, two Barret caliber .50 sniper rifle, two M14 rifle, M16 rifle, caliber .45 pistol, Garand rifle, caliber .50 sniper rifle, caliber 7.62mm sniper, caliber 5.56mm sniper rifle, caliber .30 sniper rifle, and ammunition.
They were presented before officials of the military and provincial government and were given cash assistance, sacks of rice, and food packs.
“Inyo ng nakikita ang kaibahan kung kayo ay tutugon sa layuning kapayapaan ng ating pamahalaan, ligtas kayong mamuhay na kasama ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay, kaya patuloy ang aking panawagan sa mga kasamahan ninyong magbalik-loob na sa gobyerno at tulungan nating paunlarin ang ating bayan”, 6ID Commander, Major General Alex Rillera, said.
