Vigan City is gearing up for an influx of tourists, with an expected 50,000 visitors per day, during the Holy Week.

The cobblestone streets of Calle Crisologo are being cleaned regularly because of the high volume of foot traffic. Employees of the Vigan City government and local coachmen help in cleaning the streets.

"Pinapadalas namin ito na magpa-flash kasi marami nang turistang na pumupunta para ma-eliminate din natin yung odor from the canal. So ang ginagawa namin [ay] naglalagay kami ng enzyme, odor eliminator," Agnes Atriginio, Officer-in-Charge of the Vigan Heritage Administrative Office, said.

Aside from tourists, the City Tourism Office also prioritizes the safety of horses used in carriage rides. They said that the roads become slippery due to thick dust from leftover food and drinks.

"Dumudulas yung kalsada kapag marami ng dumaraang tao at kabayo. Iwas disgrasya kapag nalilinisan talaga ang kalsada," Leonardo Alibin, a coachman, said.

The frequency of cleaning the street is expected to increase, especially during peak season or holidays like the upcoming Holy Week.

"Yung volume ng turista na pupunta, ang expectation natin 50,000 up na naman," Atriginio said.

According to the Tourism Office, accommodation establishments in the city have already started to become fully booked.
