The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) will deploy around 2,000 police officers across the region to provide security during the Holy Week.

PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Ricardo Layug Jr., said the deployment aims to strengthen security measures and intensify police visibility in key areas, including places of worship, major thoroughfares, pilgrimage sites, tourist destinations, and other areas of convergence.

“Anticipating the influx of individuals to places of worship and tourist destinations, our police force stands ready to provide assistance and ensure community safety,” Layug said.

The observance of the Holy Week is from March 24 to March 30, 2024. The deployment of police personnel will be extended until May 31, 2024.

Police said there could be an increase in foot traffic and other activities during these dates and the proactive measures put in place aim to mitigate potential risks and maintain peace and order throughout the region.

The PRO-10 also collaborated with other law enforcement agencies, military, local government units, and other concerned government offices.

“We will maximize our deployment across the region. We will provide Police Assistance Desks (PADS) and we have already coordinated with other agencies,” Layug added.

The PRO-10 reminds the public to exercise vigilance and refrain from posting real-time photos and locations on social media so as not to give people with bad intentions opportunity to do harm and commit crimes.
