Three people on a tricycle died in an accident that saw them buried under the sand a dump truck was transporting in Barangay 23, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
Investigation showed that the tricycle was traveling near the truck when the truck’s driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The truck fell on its side on the tricycle and trapped the victims in their vehicle. In the process, the sand the truck was transporting got dumped on the victims.
The victims died in the area.
"Nung nakita namin dahil hindi na namin mahanap yung garong, chineck namin sa buhangin, positive, may nadaganan… dead on the spot [yung mga biktima]," BJ Paguirigan, a barangay official, said.
The dump truck driver has not provided a statement and is set to face charges.
