Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez has ordered a recall of identification cards issued to persons with disability (PWD).
The Local Government Unit of Bacolod City will issue a temporary document with Quick Response (QR) Code that PWDs can use for their transaction.
The LGU is set to replace the IDs with an updated version after non-qualified individuals were found to have used the IDS to avail of discounts.
There are around 12,000 registered PWDs in Bacolod City.
The LGU has also established a 24/7 hotline for PWDs who have inquiries or who have encountered issues while the system is being fixed.
The Department of Social Services and Development warned manufacturers of bogus IDs and persons who use these fake IDs that the long arm of the law is bound to catch them.
