The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 7 seized suspected shabu in Cebu City worth close to P11 million and arrested a reportedly high-profile personality. 

An intelligence-driven operation was conducted in V. Rama Street, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City, that resulted in the arrest of alias “Cyano,” 58 years old, considered by the police as a high-value profile, in the late evening of February 25, 2024.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were 1,600 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated value of P10,880,000, and other drug paraphernalia.

Investigation revealed that the suspect disposes of large quantities of illegal drugs regularly in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and in neighboring provinces for up to 2,000 grams weekly.

Meanwhile, the confiscated pieces of evidence were submitted to the Forensic Unit for examination. 

The arrested suspect was taken into police custody for the appropriate filing of charges in court in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"Our fight against illegal drugs will continue to be comprehensive, highly-analytical, human rights sensitive, and community-based," Police Regional Office Director, Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, said.

He also lauded the achievement of RPDEU 7.
