A barangay councilman was shot dead in Sitio Banahaw, Barangay Tugas, Tabango town in the Province of Leyte.
The victim identified as Ronald Palacio, "kagawad" (councilman) of Barangay Santa Rosa, was killed on the spot at around 7 p.m. on February 20, 2024.
In an initial investigation of the Tabango Municipal Police, it was learned that the victim was on his way home onboard his motorcycle when he was shot at by the perpetrator.
He was hit fatally on the back.
As of this writing, the Tabango Municipal Police are yet to determine the motive of the crime.
