A motorcycle rider was killed and decapitated in a head-on collision with a jeepney in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Police said the victim, Elpidio Magpulong, was heading to Alubijid town while the jeepney was bound for Cagayan de Oro.

The motorcycle allegedly made a counterflow and crashed into the jeepney.

“Didto na sa nahitaboan nag-counterflow ang motor, dili na mao ang linya nga iyang gidaganan, kumbaga, nag-swerve siya sa lain nga lane, misulod siya sa linya sa jeep nga diha gaagi ug nahitabo nga nagbangga sila ug mao’y hinungdan nga natumba ang motor, nahulog ang driver ug wala gyud malikayi,” Opol Municipal Police Station Traffic Investigator, Senior Master Sergeant Arniel Villamor, said.

Police added that the victim was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened.

“Mag-drive ta og motor, dili na lang gyud siguro ta moinom kay murag lisod gyud kaayo nga under influence of liquor ta,” Villamor added.

The family of the victim and the driver and operator of the jeepney have reportedly entered into an amicable settlement.
