The first of two skywalks on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City near the Fuente Osmeña Circle (rotunda) was removed already after a three-day road closure to give way to the dismantling.

Cebu City Councilor Jerry Guardo, chairperson of the Committee on Infrastructure, said that the tearing-down of the second skywalk is set immediately. 

It was learned that debris, and other parts of the skywalk, are being stored on an area at South Road Properties for possible recycling.

The first phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is expected completed by July 2024.

The first phase covers the area outside of the Cebu South Bus Terminal to the vicinity of Cebu Provincial Capitol. 

The BRT earlier set a project completion by December 2023, however issues on the ownership of the two skywalks between the Local Government Unit of Cebu City and the Department of Public Works and Highways halted construction works.

The dismantling of the skywalks was pursued only on the second week of February 2024.
