Gilbert Concepcion, the alleged leader of the Concepcion Criminal Gang operating in various locations across the Bicol Region, was killed in an armed encounter during the service of a warrant arrest in Manila.

The operation took place in Barangay San Martin de Porres, Parañaque City, Metro Manila, with the collaborative efforts of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) and other law enforcement units.

PRO-5 reported that the operation resulted in an armed encounter and ended with Concepcion and his accomplices neutralized.

Three firearms, magazines, and bullet casings were recovered from the encounter site.

"So malaking kaginhawaan, malaking oportunidad ito para umunlad pa ang ating paligid ang ating region... It will serve as a warning dun sa other bad elements na nasa paligid that they cannot hide from the long arms of the laws," PBGen. Andre Dizon, the Regional Director of PRO5, said.

Concepcion was considered the mastermind behind various crimes of the Concepcion Criminal Group, including extortion and multiple murders.

Standing warrants of arrest were issued against him for charges such as kidnapping with murder, kidnapping and serious illegal detention, murder, direct assault, and rape.

PRO-5 expressed hope that with Concepcion's elimination, the influence and activities of the criminal group would weaken significantly.

However, authorities remain vigilant and are determined to arrest remaining members of the group.

"Dae ta pwedeng bayaan tulos, hihilingon ta kung may mga remnants pa sya duman na mga followers," Dizon added.

The successful operation is seen as a positive development for the town of Libon, Albay, which has long been a stronghold of the Concepcion Criminal Gang.
