A couple and three minors died in a house fire in Barangay Kilicao, Daraga, Albay on the evening of January 23, 2024.

Only a 14-year-old child in the family was the sole survivor who was sleeping at their grandmother's house during the incident.

The father of the woman who died was suspicious of the incident since all their bodies were found side-by-side while the house was only small.

"Di ko lang po aram ta arug kaito ang pangyari na nagtataraning ngane, bako sinda hiwalay," Ramon Neptuno, the grandfather of the surviving victim, said.

Neptuno is asking for assistance for the burial of the victims.

"Kami nagtitios kaya, kaya ako nangangapudan kung sisay makatabang lamang," he added.

The victims will undergo an autopsy.

The Daraga Municipal Police Station assured a thorough examination of the incident, such as the cause of the fire and a possibility of foul play.

"On going pa po, nagrequest naman kita ki SOCO, nagduman man su SOCO kasubanggi and then maconduct sinda nin autopsy, and yung full SOCO report hahalaton ta po na matapos bago kita makapagtao [nin sagot] kung ano talaga su nangyari," PLTCOL. Edmundo Cerillo, Jr., Chief of the Daraga MPS, said.
