“Pasayaw Festival” of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental and Banauan Cultural Group of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City were adjudged Grand Champions in the Free Interpretation and Ritual Showdown categories, respectively, in the Sinulog Festival 2024 grand showdown at South Road Properties in Cebu City on January 21, 2024.

The group through “Salta Canlaon Official” page said they are overjoyed at bringing home the plum as this is also a “first” for a local government unit in Negros Island to win big in the Sinulog Festival. 

The Canlaon City performers also won second in the Street-Dancing category, and first-place winner in “Best in Musicality” for their category, while Banauan Cultural Group settled for second place in their category.

Both grand champions were also declared “Best in Costume” in their respective categories. 

The grand winners are set to receive P3 million each in the awarding ceremony on January 22, 2024.

Participating contingents reached 18.
