The body of a dead man was found floating in the waters near Barangay Gamao, Tingloy, Batangas.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) retrieved the remains, which were already in an advanced stage of decomposition. The body was estimated to have been in the water for three days.
The body was found by a vessel that was passing by the area on the way to Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro from Batangas.
The body, estimated to be that of a man between 25 to 30 years old, had an orange shirt and green shorts on.
Authorities have yet to identify the deceased, as of this posting, and an autopsy has been conducted to determine the cause of death. Results of the procedure are expected in seven days.
"Upang matukoy ang sanhi ng pagkamatay ng biktima. Ang result ng autopsy is seven days pa," CG Ens Kenneth Bongabong, Operations Officer of CGS Batangas, said.
The PCG urged anyone with information about a missing family member matching the description to contact their office.
