No coliform was found in water samples from nine wells of the Baguio Water District. This means water supplied to concessionaires is safe for consumption.

Water from the wells was tested following the diarrhea outbreak in Baguio City. The number of diarrhea cases reached 2,199 as of January 11, 2024.

“Our supply is potable, kung may problema sasabihin namin, ina-isolate namin ‘yan. Concerned din kami sa health ng consumers natin," Engr. Salvador Royeca, General Manager of Baguio Water District, said.

With the water district’s supply cleared, health authorities are working with the police to collect water samples from establishments and houses.

"Kasalukuyan pa rin na nagka-conduct ng inspection ang sanitation sa mga water sources," Aileen Refuerzo, Baguio City Public Information Officer, said.

Health authorities are also reaching out to external laboratories for further analysis and detection of viral infections.

"We are coordinating with other laboratories outside Baguio to help us especially in detection of any viral infection of our water," Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes, City Health Services Officer, said.

Residents have switched to using purified or bottled water for drinking and cooking.

The local government is ready to provide assistance to those affected with diarrhea.
