Telecommunication services will be shut down temporarily during the annual Traslacion in Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Authorities said communication signal shutdown is part of the security measures for the annual procession of the Black Nazarene.
Police and other concerned offices have already put security measures and traffic and emergency response plan in place.
Devotees are urged to follow the guidelines set by the local government to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the religious activity.
Pregnant, children, and sickly are discouraged to join the Traslacion.
From the Nazareno Church, the image of the Black Nazarene will be transferred to the St. Augustine Cathedral at around 9 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024.
A prayer vigil will then follow from 10 p.m. to midnight.
The procession will start after the Holy Mass at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, from the St. Augustine Cathedral back to the Nazareno Church.
