All Vocalmyx needed were eight magnificent voices intertwined into one vocal orchestra to be crowned the first-ever The Voice Generations grand champions on the night of December 10, Sunday.
The Kagay-anon bets of Coach Stell bested Central Luzon-pride P3, Bohol natives Music & Me, and Cebuanas ‘Sorority’ in the Grand Finale of the singing competition, delivering a masterful a cappella rendition of ‘Into the Unknown’ from the Disney film, Frozen 2.
The group is composed of Raven Joshua Zamora, Renier Jupiter, Renz Romano, Reynan Paul Jupiter, Rob Cataylo, Shanny Obidos, Charrise Engracia Apag, and Claire Marie Rañoa, who all hail from Cagayan De Oro.
The eight-person squad was the first-ever The Voice Generations act to see all four coaches’ chairs turn using an impressive version of ‘Hayap’ that they performed without any accompaniment. They eventually picked Coach Stell and his ‘Stellbound.’
Their “Into The Unknown” performance in the Grand Finale was everything they’ve been known for and more, earning a standing ovation from the coaches off a multilayered finals act that featured the group’s wildly unique vocal dimensions and styles.
With the win, Vocalmyx is taking home a million peso check, on top of a contract from Universal Music Group Philippines.
