Fishermen in Barangay Puro, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur were overjoyed after catching a massive 339-kilo blue marlin on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
The catch has brought immense pride and gratitude to the fishermen.
Earlier in January 10, other fishermen in the area also hauled in blue marlins weighing over 200 kilos.
The waters of Magsingal are known for their rich marine resources, making it a prime fishing spot in Ilocos Norte.
BLUE MARLINS
The blue marlin (Makaira nigricans) is the largest billfish, closely related to other marlins, sailfish, and swordfish, according to Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Blue marlins can grow up to 4.9 meters long and weigh as much as 816.5 kilograms.
