Action-adventure series “Lolong,” headlined by Kapuso Primetime Hero Ruru Madrid, held a press conference yesterday at a mall in Quezon City ahead of its much-anticipated Season 2 premiere on January 20.

POWERHOUSE CAST

Returning to primetime television three years after its multi-awarded stint in 2022, the cast of the Ruru Madrid-starrer were in full force as they addressed questions from the press.

Joining Ruru were Season 1 holdovers Shaira Diaz, Rochelle Pangilinan, Mikoy Morales, Alma Concepcion, Maui Taylor, and Ms. Jean Garcia.

Fresh faces are also set to bolster the powerhouse lineup, with the likes of John Arcilla, Rocco Nacino, Martin del Rosario, Klea Pineda, and Ms. Tetchie Agbayani being added to the fray. 

Members of the cast in attendance also include Rodjun Cruz, Paul Salas, Mikoy Morales, Victor Neri, Nonie Buencamino, Rodjun Cruz, Pancho Magno, Nikki Valdez, Bernadette Allyson, Boom Labrusca, Jan Marini, Gerard Pizarras, Archi Adamos, John Clifford, Waynona Collings, Rubi Rubi, Inah Evans, Brent Valdez, and Mr. Leo Martinez.

SEASON 2 ADVENTURES 

A crocodile-themed action-adventure series, Lolong explores the unlikely relationship of a man and a humongous crocodile. 

The second season of the Kapuso primetime favorite is entitled “Lolong: Bagong Bayani,” which now depicts the events four years after the conclusion of the first, where ‘Lolong’ (Ruru) is a mask-wearing hero who is still an active peace-maker in their town of Tumahan.

The show will also revolve around Lolong’s quest to save his wife Elsie (Shaira) and recover a miraculous gem called the Ubtao, as violence ensues and interrupts his town’s short-lived peace and harmony. 

Viewers can look forward to Lolong's journey in facing new challenges and unanticipated twists after he successfully united the people of Tumahan with the mysterious Atubaws.

Produced by GMA Public Affairs, the show’s first stint– which ran from July to September 2022– instantly became a hit, making it 2022’s most viewed Filipino show on TV. 

It also won the Best Primetime Serye award at the 2022 Gawad Pilipino Icon of the Year, and was declared the National Winner for Best Visual/Special Effects at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards.

During the media conference at a Quezon City-based mall, a giant display of a swimming ‘Dakila’– the massive crocodile character with which Madrid’s role has a deep friendship– can be seen through the mall’s signature LED ceiling display.

According to a GMA News Online report, the fictional crocodile is a 22-feet long animatronic croc made with “a fiberglass body and silicone skin.”

Directing “Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan” are King Mark Baco and Rommel Penesa.
