A group of chapel leaders in Zone 5, Barangay Busay, Cebu City provided free food items to churchgoers who attended the traditional “Misa de Gallo,” or Dawn Mass.
Leaders from 12 chapels of the Saint Therese Parish, headed by their zone coordinator Violy Avenido, said they agreed to provide a food station for Dawn Mass attendees.
The table was placed conspicuously across the church so Mass attendees would be able to partake in the free food, in the spirit of agapé, as soon as the Mass has been offered.
The food items include bread, spaghetti, boiled eggs, and “torta” (a type of cupcake or muffin), and drinks such as coffee.
Agapé, according to Saint Pope John Paul II, is a love that can “reach down to every form of human misery and sin and restore people to value.”
He also said that “agapé is the greatest of the three theological virtues, along with faith and hope, and that it is the apex of the triptych that guides people to God.”
In Christian faith, agapé is the highest form of love.
