More than 100 senior citizens in Barangay Lilimasan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan were filled with joy as they received Christmas gifts from students of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) - San Carlos Campus.
"Masayang-masaya, siyempre nabigyan ng regalo kaya ang saya-saya ko," 74-year-old Julita Nerizon said.
Her face beamed with happiness as she received a thoughtful gift from the College of Teacher Education of PSU San Carlos.
Similarly, Flora Solis couldn’t hide her smile upon receiving simple but meaningful gifts of rice, grocery items, clothes, and other necessities.
“Kami ay tuwang-tuwa kasi Merry Christmas. Tuwang-tuwa talaga,” Solis said.
The gift-giving activity is part of the extension program of the university, aiming to serve the community and embody the true spirit of Christmas for the elderly.
“Gusto nating matugunan ang kanilang pangangailangan sa simpleng tulong namin. Simple lang naman pero ito ay punong-puno ng pagmamahal,” Dr. Lily Arceli Adoracion Ramos, Dean of the College of Teacher Education at PSU San Carlos, said.
