Amateur astrophotographer Joshua Intal and members of the Photographers’ Club of Tarlac (PCT) captured breathtaking images of the 2024 Geminids Meteor Showers in Sitio Baag, San Jose, Tarlac.

The meteor shower happened on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Over the course of just one hour, Intal and his team witnessed and photographed 70-100 meteor streaks in the night sky.

“Luckily enough, we got a lot of streaks sa mga photos,” Intal said.

“We chose Sitio Baag, San Jose for its Bortle 3 skies, a 50-minute drive from Tarlac City proper,” Joshua explained.

Despite the moon’s nearly full illumination, the team managed to capture stunning visuals, blending multiple images to highlight the faint details of Barnard’s Loop alongside the meteor streaks.

“The experience is sobrang overwhelming, at saka sobrang surreal... dahil sobrang bihira lang din na makakita ng meteor shower,” Intal said.

“Ina-unvail ‘yung hidden beauty ng mundo or ng universe natin. Parang it’s a way or form or portal to a world na sobrang beyond our imagination,” Intal added.

Through the use of his Nikon D3400 and various lenses, Joshua was able to capture the celestial event, blending and processing images to create a vivid depiction of the night’s wonders.
