War-drama series ‘Pulang Araw’ is all set for an out-of-this-world voyage when it leaves Earth in 2025 after its inclusion in the ambitious Lunar Codex project– an initiative that will send creative works to the moon for preservation purposes.
According to a 24 Oras report by Nelson Canlas, the highly-acclaimed historical drama is the first and only Filipino television series to take part in the said project, flying out via one of its seven time capsules and intended to be archived on the moon.
The capsule carrying the Kapuso series will be part of the Lunar Codex’ Polaris mission, slated for launch in November 2025 and intended to land on the moon’s south pole region.
The inclusion of “Pulang Araw,” which stars some of the biggest showbiz names today in Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Sanya Lopez, is based on the overall merits of its narration of a crucial period in Philippine history, as well as its depiction of Filipino bravery in their fight for liberation.
Collated in time capsules are works– songs, films, series, and other artistic outputs– of more than 40,000 creatives from 185 countries and territories and 160 indigenous nations.
SURPRISED, GRATEFUL MAIN CAST
In separate interviews with Nelson Canlas on 24 Oras, the protagonists expressed their gratitude for the show’s inclusion.
“In-announce yan this morning ni Direk eh, and we are so honored na mapili yung proyekto namin na magkaroon ng opportunity to be part of the Lunar Codex project. Maraming salamat sa opportunity,” said Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards.
Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza, echoing a similar sentiment, said she is “honored and surprised” as she did not expect that “Pulang Araw” would be included.
“Makikita na nila ako sa moon!” Pambansang Ginoo David Licauco said in jest, while Sanya Lopez sounded excited over the fact that their show joins the exclusive set of creative works.
“Balita ko nga, bilang lang ang inilalagay doon at napakasarap sa pakiramdam na isa tayo doon,” shared Lopez
