Pursuing her dream to follow in her family’s legacy in optometry, Millen Salvacion De Jesus, 25, did not only earn her Doctor of Optometry degree, Magna Cum Laude, but also secured the seventh place in the October 2024 Optometrist Licensure Exam.

Millen, who hails from Barangay Sapang, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, was thrilled by the news of her exam result.

She graduated at the Lyceum-Northwestern University in Dagupan City.

"After a few seconds, ni-release na nila ‘yung list of topnotchers… ayun, nag-iiyakan, nagsisigawan kami. Sobrang saya!" she said.

Grateful for her family’s support, Millen acknowledged the impact of her faith on her success.

"The secret sa success na ito ay si God. Without His guidance, none of these would be possible po," she said.

Now, her youngest sister, Kirby Ann, plans to follow in Millen’s footsteps.

"Sobrang saya namin, nag-iiyakan. Tears of joy po," Kirby Ann said.

Looking ahead, Millen envisions managing an optical clinic and initiating optical missions for those in need.

For now, she plans to start a commercial practice but feels a strong calling to teach.

"Andaming naghihikayat na magturo ako. I feel called to do so po," she said.

Millen’s advice to those striving in their profession: Trust in God.
