Every Halloween, visitors flock to a spooky roadside display in Sitio E Road, Barangay Alas Asin, Mariveles, Bataan where an array of homemade zombies and horror characters grabs everyone’s attention.
The display, now in its ninth year, is created by couple Arnel Bravo and Rhea Dela Peña.
They use recycled materials like plywood, PVC pipes, and thrift-store clothes.
"Siyam na taon na po namin itong ginagawa [na] mag-asawa, bilang paggunita sa mga yumao nating mahal sa buhay at magbigay kasiyahan na din po sa mga tao," Dela Peña said.
"Nakakawala po ng pagod pag nakikita po namin silang natatakot at natutuwa," she added.
Visitors can wander through a haunted cemetery scene, complete with “moving” corpses in coffins, a zombie bride, and even a chilling invitation to “bond with the zombies” for a unique photo op.
Each night, children join in wearing eerie costumes, adding to the creepy charm.
Entry to the horror display is free, though donations are welcome to support a community trick-or-treat event.
The attraction runs until Sunday, November 3, 2024.
