Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia led a Voters Awareness Campaign especially on the use of an automated counting machine at a state university in Cebu where most of the audience are young voters.

According to the students of the Cebu Normal University in Cebu City, the awareness campaign guides and assists them, being new voters, in understanding the purpose, function, value, among other facets, of the automated counting machine in making sure their vote counts.

The process is observed to be quick and efficient with the aid of available technology that is easy to use and dynamics easy to understand.

Comelec Chairman Garcia underscored the significance of the young voters’ participation to what he labeled as a "super election year" in 2025 because of the Local and National Elections (LNE) on May 12, 2025 and also of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Election, among others.

The students participated in an actual demonstration of casting votes using sample ballots that required shading of circles which have corresponding choices or names of candidates.

The shaded sample ballots were slid into the counting slot of the automated machine which facilitated speedy process.

"Convenient and faster than before," a student observed.

"Convenient labi na sa elders nga hinay og lihok," another student opined.

Garcia assured voters of transparency, accuracy, credibility, integrity in the May 2025 elections.

"Maipagmamalaki natin to kasi nasasagot nito ang katanungan na 'nabilang ba ang boto ko?'," Garcia said to the news team.
