A priest from the Diocese of Surigao has fulfilled his dream of celebrating a Holy Mass at Mt. Apo.
Fr. Ansel Apatan was among the 15 people from Surigao who trekked and conquered the country’s highest peak on September 23, 2024.
Upon reaching the summit, 2,954 meters above sea level, Apatan celebrated a Mass.
In his homily, Apatan said he realized that trekking the mountain is like a journey of life where only important people and things should be brought to reach the destination.
He said he came to know his companions during their journey.
Apatan considers the opportunity to reach the peak of Mt. Apo and celebrate a Mass there as a blessing, which has been his dream for a long time.
He conquered Mt. Apo on his third attempt.
