An elderly man was found shivering and without clothing in the lower part of his body after reportedly falling into floodwaters in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City.

The man, 64, who has been staying in the area for the past five months, was assisted by residents who placed him on a makeshift bed.

A video of the man, shared on social media, has drawn sympathy from the public.

“Si matanda nakuha na wala na diyan. Hindi andiyan lang yan hanapin niyo," Merlinda Bocaya, a resident, said.

"Nakita niya, andoon nakatihaya siya nakaganyan yung kamay niya naninigas. Buhatin niyo, lagay niyo sa papag. Ayun nabuhat siya nilagay siya diyan,” Bocaya added.

Efforts were made to protect the elderly man’s shelter from the rain.

Ivy Garcia, who has been taking care of him, described his condition.

“Dito po siya sumisilong sa amin tapos nung mga bandang May (2024) po, bigla na lang naging ganyan si tatay, parang nanghina siya — na-stroke siya. Ilang buwan na, ganyan na hirap na po talaga kami," she said.

Barangay Health Workers are now monitoring his situation.

“Palagi naman siya pinupuntahan ng CSWD (City Social Welfare and Development) nagbibigayan ng food packs niya at banig kaya lang tinatapon niya," Elisa Delin, President of the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) in Bonuan Gueset, said.

"Dahil naiinitan daw siya pero mino-monitor namin siya. Actually, nung Friday nagpunta na kami dito kasama namin CSWD," Delin added.

Officials urge anyone who knows the elderly man to contact the Barangay Hall to ensure he receives the proper care.
