Students from Naga City recently made their mark on the global stage at the First Yogyakarta International Dance Carnival in Indonesia, representing the Philippines with impressive performances in both street and folk dance competitions.

The Camarines Sur National High School (CSNHS) dance group secured the championship title in street dance and earned the 2nd runner-up position in folk dance at this prestigious international event.

They competed against teams from South Africa, India, South Korea, Colombia, and the host country, Indonesia.

The performance highlighted various aspects of Filipino culture, including the deep devotion of Bicolanos to their patroness, Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia.

“Ang saro sa pigpreparahan mi talaga is yung pag-pulido kang mga movements kang [bayle] kasi iba ang level [ng competition] kumbaga nag-doble kayod kami," Pemie Polvorosa-Bosquillos, the group's dance director and choreographer, said.

Bosquillos emphasized the meticulous preparation and hard work that went into refining their dance routines for the high-level competition.

The group returned to Naga City to a warm welcome from the CSNHS community on August 29, 2024.

“So maogmahon na pagmati in spite kang kadipisilan, kakulangan pero nagtrayumpo sinda — yaon su passion kan nagtukdo sainda, yaon si passion kan mga estudyante na talagang ipahiling ang tibay ninda," Dr. Sulpicio Alferes, Ph.D., Principal IV of CSNHS, said.
