If one is not familiar with dance, or the skills that render one a true terpsichorean, no one would notice that the two international winners in dancesports from Iloilo City are relatively newbies.

The duo has had a few months of dancesport lessons yet, but they whirled on to the international platform with the grace and confidence of a champion.

Nicole Gonzaga and Pearl Gerona, the dancing duo from Barangay Bitoon in the district of Jaro, Iloilo City, represented the Philippines in international dancesports competitions in Malaysia and Singapore recently. They came home to Panay Island with their haul of multiple gold medals, silver and bronze.

Aside from the rigors that go with preparations and the challenges that come with competitions, growing expenses top the challenges that they must deal with. For this, they have the wisdom and support of their mothers Winda Gonzaga and Ruditha Gerona, respectively, to thank for.

They said that their mothers always assure them there is a solution to every challenge, all they must do is to tackle it one problem at a time. Two-gether.

Nicole and Pearl are a powerhouse; right after training, they went ahead and competed internationally as if to underscore that they are poised to win. Indeed, they came home riding on the wings of victory.

The duo said that their recipe to success is making discipline a life.

Nicole and Pearl said that no matter how gifted one is with dance prowess, if one lacks the discipline, no performance will ever earn a medal.
