The Third Pampanga First-Aid and Basic Life Support Olympics brought together rescue teams from various towns and cities in the province, showcasing their life-saving abilities through a series of challenging scenarios.

The competition was divided into four stations, each testing different emergency response skills. Teams participated in:

  • a CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) with AED (automated external defibrillator) challenge,
  • a bandaging relay for treating wounds and fractures,
  • a lifting and moving relay to demonstrate proper victim handling; and,
  • a situational analysis and application test.

The event highlighted the preparedness and excellence of each first responder team.

"Dapat iisa lang galaw ng mga responders natin sa probinsya. We are giving assurance to the Kapampangans — the assurance na safe sila — [na] yung mga responders ng Kapampangan ay magagaling," Angelina Blanco, Pampanga's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Officer, said.

Despite their tiredness, the teams performed admirably.

"Kahit bumagyo at napagod kami kay Typhoon Carina, binigay pa din nila yung best nila," Jeng Quiambao, San Simon DRRM Officer, said.

Awards were given for various categories, including Best in Adult CPR with AED, Best Bandaging, Best in Situational Analysis, Best in Uniform, Best Team Leader, Best in Teamwork, and Most Improved Team.

CONSECUTIVE WINS

For the third consecutive year, Mabalacat City emerged as the overall champion, earning the title of 'Hall of Famer.'

"Ito [ay] maganda [para sa] camaraderie; pag may nangyari po sa isang bayan, magtutulungan po. Malaking bagay na magkakakilala po yung mga rescuers," Jeff Santos, Mabalacat City DRRM Officer, said.

Winning teams received trophies, medals, cash prizes, and rescue equipment.
